GRAPHING

Every Friday I "take a break" from my usual lessons and graph. This gives me an opportunity (besides the weather graph at Math Meeting) to listen to students make observations about the graph as we are collecting the data and when we finish.  This is a great time for students to use their Math Vocabulary.  They must start each statement with, "I observe that...."

How are you getting home from school today?
Bus, Learning Bridge, Daycare, Car, or Mom's room.

After reading the Chapter "Cookies" from Frog and Toad, we graphed our favorite kind of cookie. Chocolate chip, chocolate, M&M, or sprinkle.
What is our favorite Tootsie Roll Pop Flavor?
Orange, Grape, Cherry, Chocolate, or Banana

We also graphed our hair color.  Each student was given the correct hair color and was able to draw a face on the person.  Then they added each piece and we made observations.
