Welcome to our Controlled Chaos

Welcome to The Controlled Chaos Classroom.  I am so excited to begin our new school year.  I hope you find this blog informational and a fun way to keep up with your child's weekly activities.  I blog about our math stations, literacy stations, and any other fun things we are doing. Usually I ask my daughters what they did at school and they say, "Nothing.", "I don't know!", or "We had snack, lunch, and went to recess!".  It drives me crazy.  I know they do more and when I ask more specific questions, it sparks their memory.  My hope is that this helps you be able to ask more specific questions to your child and be able to have great conversations with them about school.

I moved to Georgia after college to begin my teaching career.  I have been teaching in the public school system for the past 13 years. I graduated from the Jacksonville State University in Alabama with my undergraduate degree and my Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education.  I also attended Piedmont College where I earned my Educational Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  I taught 1st grade for 6 years, in the Early Intervention Program (EIP) for a year and am beginning my 6th year teaching Kindergarten.  I have been married for 11 years and have two daughters.  My oldest daughter will be in fourth grade and my youngest daughter will be in second grade.

Joining me this year is Susan Amos. She is an amazing paraprofessional!  This is my second year sharing a classroom with her and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Susan has lived in Paulding County all her life. She has been a Paraprofessional for the Paulding County School District for 14 years. She has worked in several different classes over the years, Kindergarten, ESEP, and Special Needs Pre-K.  She has been married for 25 years and has 2 sons, a wonderful daughter in law, 1 grandson and a grandson due in October.

We are looking forward to sharing our Controlled Chaos with you!

Subsidizing Apps!

What is subsidizing? Subsidizing is instantly being able to identify how much is in a set. Usually people can "see numbers" to 5 quickly in a line and up to 6 if arranged like dice.
The ability to see numbers quickly is a huge stepping stone to a child being fluent with numbers and math facts.

These two apps are amazing. They were created by the same company but the graphics are different.
