Leprechaun Trap, Rock Collection, Egg Hunt, and Egg Drop

Here are the letters I sent you through email today. If you like to get ahead keep reading. If it stresses you out, don't read it until next week 😊
(Sorry for the messed up clip art. I didn't realize the rocks were on the leprechaun letter until I had already sent the email.)

Groundhog Day

We love Groundhog's Day!

We made our productions.

We read several books about groundhogs and then wrote what we wanted the groundhog to do!  Most of us wanted an Early Spring. A few wanted it to snow (booooo).

Then we watched the video with the groundhog's prediction.... Can you tell who was sad because they wanted snow?

I love this book. It disguises itself as purely nonfiction, however, it is full of cool facts about groundhogs.
One of the cool facts was that groundhogs have burrows with different compartments and an exit door. 😊

We then designed our own burrows.

American Symbols

We have been learning about 3 American Symbols. The American Flag, Statue of Liberty, and the Bald Eagle.

We observed 3 pennies and then put them in a cup with vinegar (they said it smelled like Easter eggs😂)
After a few hours they started changing colors. The next day they were turquoise.

They love the eagle cam. It is a live feed but you can also look at prior videos. We saw the eagle on her nest and then the daddy eagle brought food. When she got up to eat, we were able to see 2 eggs. The first egg is due to hatch the 14th and the 2nd egg the 17th.
