Welcome

I am so excited to begin our new school year. This blog will have very general information because our classroom now uses Seesaw to keep you informed on what your child is up to daily as well as reminders and upcoming events.  I hope you find this as an amazingly easy way to access your students work and get a sneak peek into their daily lives while at school.  My hope is that this helps you be able to ask more specific questions to your child and be able to have great conversations with them about school.

Here is a little about your teachers.

I moved to Georgia after college to begin my teaching career.  I have been teaching in the public school system for the past 17 years. I graduated from the Jacksonville State University in Alabama with my undergraduate degree and my Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education.  I also attended Piedmont College where I earned my Educational Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  I taught the first 13 years of my career in Paulding County where I taught 1st grade for 6 years, the Early Intervention Program (EIP) for a year and 6 years teaching Kindergarten.

I have been married for 15 years. My husband, David and I and have two daughters.  My oldest daughter will be entering 8th grade and my youngest daughter will be in 6th grade at Lovinggood this year. This is my first year in a very long time to not have a child at school with me.

My name is Karen Enfinger. I have been married to my husband Jim for 38 years. We raised three smart, beautiful daughters, Jamie, April and Rachel. We have two fantastic son-in-laws and two granddaughters and a grandson that have our hearts .

I have been working for Cobb County school district for 28 years. The first 4 years I worked as a substitute teacher for grades kindergarten through fifth. I’ve since worked as a kindergarten paraprofessional, most of those years here at Kemp.

I am a graduate of Mercer University with a bachelor’s degree in Human Services and a minor in early childhood education.  I feel so fortunate to work with children. I love the looks on their faces when they get something for the first time. I love that children are like little sponges and are so eager to learn most anything you put in front of them. I believe that the first formal years of your child’s education should be as positive as possible, and I will help do whatever I can to make it a great year.
