Math Stations

I love station time. The studnwts get to work in small group or partners on a task that is "just right" for them and I get to pull students to work on specific task. It's a win win.

Station 1 : Computer
I loved this picture but I made them turn around so I could see their smiling faces too!

Station 2: Ten Frame War
Each player flipped over a card and had to say who had the greatest. Then we discussed how many more they needed to get to the next 10. We are working on being able to automatically identify the number and how many more.

Station 3: labeling sets
We seem to get in a big hurry and miscount when we are labeling sets so we are working on touching and counting or marking out the ones we count so we don't double count, skip , or make any other mistakes.

Station 4: Tens and Ones
We read the base ten on our super cute penguin cards and write the number.

Station 5: graphing

Station 6: Building Numbers
Draw a snowman card and build the number. I remind the students to put their singles (units) in groups of 2. It helps them automatically recognize if a number is even or odd.

Station 7- smart board
Station 8- iPads

I must have gotten side tracked because somehow I missed stations. Sorry.

Number recognition and lacing station- students will practice number recognition

One to One correspondence - students are practicing counting one object per number.

Pattern Blocks- students will manipulate 2 D shapes to fill larger shapes.

Sorting by attribute- students will sort attribute pieces by size, color, thickness, and shape.

Attribute Piece Cards
Sorting by attribute- students will sort buttons by size, color, thickness, number of holes and shape.

Button Sort Cards
iPad- students will explore shapes through apps

Smart Board- students will recognize and move shapes to fil the building.

We learned about the cone!

We also learned about the cylinder.

During our writing time today we learned about spaghetti and meatball spacing!

Station 1  - Comparing numbers
Using 10 sided dice the students roll and the use the moveable rectangles to create a greater than, less than, or equal to sign.

 Station 2 -Building numbers
Using two - three 10 sided dice with dots the student determines how many dots there are all of ether and then builds the number using rods and singles.

Spooky Math Stations!!!

I love this time of year!   Fall is my favorite season.  There is football, great foods, holidays, family get togethers... Did I mention football??? 😊
This week is conference week so we  have shorter days, then we will have a field trip, pumpkin tasting, and other fun things going on so I am going to use these stations for 3 weeks.

Counting On Cups
Each container has counters in them and the container is labeled 1 - 20. The students wrote the number that is in the cup in the cup on their paper and the wrote which numbers come next.

20 Frames
We are using our "play dough mats" to represent the our numbers 0-20.  We have cute Halloween erasers to fill our 20 frames.

20 Frame War
The students are LOVING this one so I chose not to rotate it out :)

Matching Sets
The students match the number to the number word and then to the set.

Computer
Www.sheppardsoftware.com has so many math games!

iPads
We love Finding Sums!   It's a great App

20 Frames

Spooky spiders are used to represent the number card that each student picks (0-20)

Greater than, less than, and equal to
Each student chooses a card and then makes a set that is greater than, less than, and equal to that number...the twist is they use skeletons ....ewwww!!!

Matching Sets
I saw this on Pinterest and had to do it!  The students match the number to the number word and then to the set.  It just looks cuter with candy born though :)
1-10 matched the number, number word, and dots
11-20 matched the number, place value, and 20 frames

Representing Numbers in Different Ways
Students match the number (0-10)to the number word, ten frame, dot card, set, even or odd, hands, and tally marks
