This week we are working on answering story problems using the number line.
When we place our lines on the number line, we do not start at 0 or 1. Since we are practicing addition, we always start with the greatest number and then count on.

In Math workshop we continued working on 3 D shapes and even did some graphing !
Our Oo Book turned out fantastic! We used the words we had come up with earlier in the week.
Oh no I forgot to take pictures of our O craft today. I will do it Monday and add them to this post.
This is one of our ways of keeping up with blow many days we have been in school. So far we have been in school 15 days!
I will begin sending sight words home when students are ready. Right now we are all in list one but once we start going we will make it all the way to the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME (list 11) !!!!

The first week is complete!
Whew!!! I'm exhausted! We had a great day today. We worked on our SLOs (Student Learning Objectives) a lot today. We still for in Math Workshop though!
We learned about the attributes of a triangle. I love hearing the kids use their new math vocabulary. We call it using our math dialogue.
Mrs. Williams also made us a Box Top for Education container. Now we need everyone to send in those box tops! Remember, each box top = $0.10
Don't forget to go to Dugan Elementary's Facebook page and like our picture. The class whose picture receives the most likes wins a prize!

It just keeps getting better!
Today we continued to go over our 5 classroom rules. The kids know them and it shows.
We started Math Workshop today.
What is math workshop?
Math Workshop is a structure that allows individuals, pairs, or small groups of students to work on mastering our math standards.
Math Workshop has 3 parts.
The opening - this is where I introduce the standard and give examples about what we are about to do.
The work time- where students go back to their tables and work individually, in a pair, or in a small group to work on a math task.
The closing- this is when we all come back to the carpet area and a student or students share what they have learned.
