It just keeps getting better!

Today we continued to go over our 5 classroom rules.  The kids know them and it shows.

We started Math Workshop today.
What is math workshop?
Math Workshop is a structure that allows individuals, pairs, or small groups of students to work on mastering our math standards.

Math Workshop has 3 parts.
The opening - this is where I introduce the standard and give examples about what we are about to do.
The work time- where students go back to their tables and work individually, in a pair, or in a small group to work on a math task.
The closing- this is when we all come back to the carpet area and a student or students share what they have learned.

We also explored our math manipulatives today.

Who stole the cookies from the cookie jar?  We have asked that question all week. Today we found out who!  It was Mrs. Amos!!! But she did share them with the class today so we forgave her. 😊

Day 2

We continued with David Goes to School and came up with our classroom rules.

Then we made our own David.

And chose our favorite rule for David to say in his dialogue bubble. 😊

Next we continued playing Who Stole The Cookies From The Cookie Jar.  We are quickly learning everyone's names!

Then we were able to read The Kissing Hand. We discussed how we felt on the first day of school and made a graph.

I loved all the observations they gave me as we were creating our graph.

We will be writing about our feelings tomorrow!

Our First Day!

We had an amazing day.  It went by so fast!!!  We had so much fun!

We read The Gingerbread Man and when we finished the gingerbread man had left us a message!!

We chased him all over school.  We searched the gym, art room, music room, computer lab, office, lunchroom, library, bus line, car line, and playground. We finally chased him back to our room where he left us gingerbread cookies and disappeared.  We were sad we never caught him but so excited that he left us a snack.

We took one bite of our gingerbread and the ripped a paper gingerbread man to match our first bite.  (Did we eat the head, leg, or arm first?). Then we graphed our data and made observations about the information on our graph.

Next we played Who Took The Cookies From The Cookie Jar?
We used the Smart Board random name generator to play.  After each child's name was called they would come up and select the next student.

Sorry about the dark picture. We had to have the lights off to see 😊

What are our rules???
We read David Goes to School and talked about all the good and bad choices David made.  Then we made a Do and Don't list.

We will continue to work on rules and play Who Took The Cookies From The Cookie Jar? To learn everyone's names.
This is going to be a great week!

It's Almost Time

Are you ready?!?!

I am so excited to begin this school year! I enjoyed meeting each one of you and cannot wait to get to know you better as the year progresses. Please take a minute to read the previous post that will tell you a little more about me.

You will hear a lot about "clips" this year.

This is where we will sit for morning meeting, conduct our 3 part lessons, and read.

This is one of my favorite boards.  As we start writing your child's name will be put under the category they need to work on. This is a great way for them to take charge of tier learning and know exactly what they need to work on.

I am so excited about the smart board. We will use this through out the day.
Look at these tiny chairs :)

I hope you enjoyed hour treats on Thursday!  Don't forget your magic confetti Sunday night!
