3D Shapes

This week we are identifying shapes, telling if they are 2D or 3D, and comparing and describing their attributes.

We are doing a shape a day.

For the opening we read the book Spheres, examined spheres, and stated the attributes of a sphere.  The students stated that a sphere is a solid 3D, is round, and has 0 sides and 0 angles.

Then for our work time each student illustrated and labeled spheres in their environment.

During the closing we drew and labeled some of their ideas on the chart.

Our next shape is a cube.

For the opening we read the book Cubes, examined cubes, and stated the attributes of a cube.  The students stated that a cube is a solid 3D , has 6 square sides and 8 angles.

Then for our work time each student illustrated and labeled cubes in their environment.

During the closing we drew and labeled some of their ideas on the chart.
