Living vs Nonliviing

We explored earthworms and gummy worms.  We started with worms.
Do the move by themselves?
Do the breathe?
Do they reproduce?
Do they need food, water, or air?
Do they grow and change?

They LOVED it!  The squealed and squirmed!

Composing and Decomposing Numbers

What does it mean to compose and decompose numbers?   If you compose a number you out it together.  If you decompose a number you break it apart. Our  math standards state we can compose and decompose numbers 11-19.  Students must see one of these numbers as 10 and some more.  For example, the number 14 is 10 and 4 more. We would write that number sentence as 10+4=14.

Mr. Brown Can Moo!

Today we read Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? and discussed onomatopoeia.  Wow that is a big word for Kindergartners! What is that??? Onomatopoeia are words associated with sound.  Like - moo, cluck, stomp, clap.

Book Swap!

We had so much fun at the book swap today! I know the kids are so excited with their new books and cannot wait to show you!

Mrs. Beames did a great job organizing the book swap and explaining to our kids what to do!

Oh, the Places You'll Go!

Today we read Oh, the Places You'll Go! I love this story!!
Next, we designed our very own hot air balloon and then wrote about where we would go!
Of course we had to have a picture of us so excited in our air balloon too!
