Math stations for the next 2 weeks

We are getting into harder task every week! 

Station 1-place value 

Students roll 2 dice  and build their number using rods and singles 

Station 2- iPads 

Students use iPads to make 20 

Station 3- Building teens 

Students draw cards (11-20) and build the number in tens frames with spooky spiders 

Station 4- matching numbers to their sets/number words 

0-10 match number, number word, and dot cubes 

11-20 match number, place value, twenty frames

Station 5- <,>,=

Students roll 10 sided dice and build a at that is greater than, less than, and equal to that number using skeletons 

Station 6- Twenty Frame 

Students build numbers using Halloween erasers

Station 7 - graphing 

Student choose a graph page and graph how many of each picture they see. Then they interpret their data by telling how many are in each row. when completed they would verbally answer which was the greatest, fewest, how many all together, and are any equal? 

Station 8- smart board 

Students will play number bingo 

Math stations

We added some new math stations and the kids were so excited!

In this station each kid tossed their Pom Pom onto the 100 chart and then built that number using rods and singles. 

We used oicture puzzle cards to work on addition. 

iPads.  We have several addition apps the kids can use. 

One more, one less 

The kids rolled the 10 sided dice and the the dice that said +1 and -1.  If they rolled a 6 and then +1 , they would say 6 and one more make 7. 

Counting on

The kids would pick up a cup and see how many counters they had, then they would count on (ex if the cup had 8 they would write 8-9-10-11 )

We used our reusable sleeves to practice counting sets.

We are using compass to work on kindergarten math standards and set our learning paths. 

50s Chart

To wrap up our week studying the letter M our mystery picture was a minion!   I loved creating this and the kids were SO excited when they realized what it was!

Spooky Math Stations!!!

I love this time of year!   Fall is my favorite season.  There is football, great foods, holidays, family get togethers... Did I mention football??? 😊

This week is conference week so we  have shorter days, then we will have a field trip, pumpkin tasting, and other fun things going on so I am going to use these stations for 3 weeks.  

Counting On Cups

Each container has counters in them and the container is labeled 1 - 20. The students wrote the number that is in the cup in the cup on their paper and the wrote which numbers come next. 

  

20 Frames 

We are using our "play dough mats" to represent the our numbers 0-20.  We have cute Halloween erasers to fill our 20 frames.  

20 Frame War

The students are LOVING this one so I chose not to rotate it out :) 

Matching Sets 

The students match the number to the number word and then to the set.

Spooky spiders are used to represent the number card that each student picks (0-20) 

Greater than, less than, and equal to 

Each student chooses a card and then makes a set that is greater than, less than, and equal to that number...the twist is they use skeletons ....ewwww!!!

I saw this on Pinterest and had to do it!  The students match the number to the number word and then to the set.  It just looks cuter with candy born though :)

Students match the number (0-10)to the number word, ten frame, dot card, set, even or odd, hands, and tally marks

50 Chart

I love the 50 chart mystery pictures.  It isn't the 100 chart(those will come soon) but it gives them the opportunity to explore building and recognizing numbers at a smaller scale.  This week we are studying the letter N, so our mystery picture was a nest.   I show the numbers on the board using magnetic place value manipulatives.   I build the number and they tell me what number I built. Then we decompose the number (if the number is 34 they say 30 and 4 more), tell if it is even or odd, and how many more they would need to get to their next ten. There are so manny a-ha moments during these activities.
