Today we carved our pumpkin. First we decided which pumpkin face we would carve. Everyone drew their choice and we graphed to see which design would win.
Next we drew on the cave and I began carving.
Here is our finished product complete with a "snotty nose"
Each table had a pumpkin to explore today! We made observations about the outside (how many lines, texture, color) and measured how tall our pumpkins were using linking cubes.
Ewwww our hands are disgusting!
Next came out pumpkin tasting! We tasted pumpkin ice cream.
Pumpkin seeds
Pumpkin bread
We made pumpkin pie in a bag and then tasted it.
Then I made pumpkin waffles.
This is one of my favorite weeks all year! The kids have really seemed to enjoy it. We will continue of fantastic week with our field trip tomorrow!
We read The Biggest Pumkin Ever and then discussed...
Circumference is how big around something is .... In kindergarten words. We estimated the circumference of one of our pumpkins today. I let them choose how much yarn they would need in order to go perfectly around the pumpkin.
We went out in the hall to do our measuring.
Some were too short
Some were too long
And 2 were just right.
Way to go Beau
Way to go Kalee
We charted our estimations.
Next we all held out pumpkin. Then we decided if it would float or sink.
Mrs. Amos did the honors of lowering the pumpkin into the water.
Drum roll please.....
It floated!!!
Good job guessing correctly Layla, Manny, and Lizzy!
