Welcome to The Controlled Chaos Classroom

I am so excited to begin our new school year.  I hope you find this blog informational and a fun way to keep up with your child's weekly activities.  I blog about our math stations, literacy stations, and any other fun things we are doing. Usually I ask my daughters what they did at school and they say, "Nothing.", "I don't know!", or "We had snack, lunch, and went to recess!".  It drives me crazy.  I know they do more and when I ask more specific questions, it sparks their memory.  My hope is that this helps you be able to ask more specific questions to your child and be able to have great conversations with them about school.

I moved to Georgia after college to begin my teaching career.  I have been teaching in the public school system for the past 14 years. I graduated from the Jacksonville State University in Alabama with my undergraduate degree and my Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education.  I also attended Piedmont College where I earned my Educational Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  I taught the first 13 years of my career in Paulding County where I taught 1st grade for 6 years, the Early Intervention Program (EIP) for a year and 6 years teaching Kindergarten.
I have been married for 12 years and have two daughters.  My oldest daughter will be in fifth grade and my youngest daughter will be in third grade.
I have lived in Powder Springs for 6 years. I am extremely excited to be closer to home to begin my 14th year of teaching teaching in Cobb County at Kemp Elementary!

My name is Karen Enfinger. I have been married to my husband Jim for 35 years. We raised three smart, beautiful daughters, Jamie, April and Rachel. We have two fantastic son-in-laws and two granddaughters that have our hearts.
I have been working for Cobb County school district for twenty five years. I worked as a substitute teacher for grades kindergarten through fifth four of those years. I’ve since worked as a kindergarten paraprofessional, most of those years here at Kemp.
I am a graduate of Mercer University with a bachelor’s degree in Human Services and a minor in early childhood education.  I feel so fortunate to work with children. I love the looks on their faces when they “get” something for the first time. I love that children are like little sponges and are so eager to learn most anything you put in front of them. I believe that the first formal years of your child’s education should be as positive as possible, and I will help do whatever I can to make it a great year.

I’m so excited to work with Mrs. Elkins, and I know between the both of us we can help your child reach his/her highest potential in a safe loving environment. Thank you for sharing your children with us!
