Christmas Around the World

We are traveling!!!!   Climb aboard our "plane" as we travel to different countries the next 2 weeks to discover how other countries celebrate Christmas.

We start in our own classroom and then we journey to different countries (classrooms) every day this week.  Next week we will start the rotation over and our countries change.
In each country we learn different facts about the country and complete a craft to represent that country.

We began our journey in Russia.  We learned cool facts and made a nutcracker.

Then we traveled to Australia, learned some really interesting facts, and made a surfboard ornament.

Nest we traveled to Germany. We learned      different traditions we have taken from Germany.   Then we painted a Christmas tree with toilet paper rolls and used our fingers to make the lights.

Next we visited France

Friday we journeyed to Mexico!

Next week we will travel through 5 more countries!

We started our week in Italy.  We learned about La Bufana and how she missed following the star to find the Baby King because she was too busy doing working.  Then we made a star ornament.

Then we traveled to Holland and learned they celebrate Christmas on December 6!   Then we made glittered bells ornaments.

We went to China next!

England was our next stop.  We made crackers and filled them with treats!

In Israel we made dreidels out if Hershey kisses, marshmallows, and a tooth pick.

Meanwhile check out our Christmas Tree Projects

  1. I love the idea and the specific examples! I am going to try the frosted bell with first graders. Can you give me advice as to what you used for glitter and glue to make it so frosted looking? Also, do you have a good method for drying the bells and was the blue construction paper used for a purpose? Any advice would be great. Thanks!

    1. Hi! The bells were dipped in Elmer's glue and and then dipped in "normal" glitter. The blue paper was only used to back the label.
