This week we have started addition.  We are introducing a strategy a week and are also introducing model drawing.

The top story problem on each chart is the opening part of Math Workshop. The bottom is the closing of Math Workshop. The bottom 2 pictures are of our math journals.  This is the work the students do during the work time ( the middle time) of Math Workshop.

Math Stations

This week we are working on representing "teen numbers" in a 20 frame and place value.

We used te iPads to work on addition.

We worked on one more and one less.

We matched numbers shown in different ways.

We rolled two 10 sided dice to get our number that we represented with place value blocks.

We rolled our 10 sided number dice and then compared our 2 numbers.

We drew cards and represented that number on the 10 frame and then wrote a number sentence to show how many more they needed to have 10.

We used our Compass Learning Odyssey learning path to work on our math standards.

Literacy Stations

This week we are working hard in our literacy stations.

We are segmenting and blending words.

We are writing  in our story books

We are watching Letter Factory, Word Factory, or Code Word Caper

We are typing out our sight words.

We are graphing our sight words.

We are segmenting the sounds we hear in words with 2,3,4 and 5 sounds.

We are identifying the beginning, middle, and/or ending sounds of words.

We are using the iPads to spell CVC words.

I have cut back to 8 stations a week. We will no longer be doing stations on Fridays.  We now have a computer lab time where we will be working on out compass program and will be buddy reading with a second grade class.
