American Symbols- The American Flag
The next few weeks we will be discussing American symbols. We are starting with the American Flag. We read Our Flag by Lloyd Douglas and The American Flag by Celia Benton. We charted information we learned about the flag. We discussed the Pledge of Allegiance and the Star Spangled Banner We also placed the Pledge of Allegiance (on Wednesday) and The Star Spangled Banner (on Thursday)in our poetry journal to illustrate. Then we wrote about information about our flag 😊. I love the way it all turned out!

Math Stations
We matched numbers shown in different ways.

We rolled two 10 sided dice to get our number that we represented with place value blocks.

We drew cards and represented that number on the 10 frame and then wrote a number sentence to show how many more they needed to have 10.
Literacy Stations
We are watching Letter Factory, Word Factory, or Code Word Caper

We are typing out our sight words.

We are graphing our sight words.

We are segmenting the sounds we hear in words with 2,3,4 and 5 sounds.
We are identifying the beginning, middle, and/or ending sounds of words.

We are using the iPads to spell CVC words.

I have cut back to 8 stations a week. We will no longer be doing stations on Fridays. We now have a computer lab time where we will be working on out compass program and will be buddy reading with a second grade class.
